“YQ “simple and unique

Let`s meet the man with the 2 alphabets
We caught up with him so stick around guys.

Introducing Annie la Belle the sensational makeup artist

If you need some make up tips for the season or you want a hint on how to be a makeup artist. Annie will hook you up.
Describe Annie La Belle

·         Annie is a young, creative & dynamic lady.

How did you come about the name?
·         Hmm...Annie is a name my mum prefers to call me. When the time came for me to have a business name, Annie La Belle a French word meaning: 'Annie the beauty' came to me.

Tell us about your childhood
·         I'd say my childhood is not different from that of a regular Lagosian. I had my primary and secondary education here in Lagos before heading to Enugu for a university degree and returning afterwards.
Did you always want to be a makeup artist?
Ahh, yes! As a kid i enjoyed watching my mum make up before leaving home for an event and usually I’d ask her to do mine even when i didn't go with her ( laughs )
Talked about learning make up a lot during my university days.

Was it difficult getting your family and friends support?
Well, for my family it wasn't a big deal, they know that it has always been my passion. My friends weren't a problem either, they've been supportive.

Was it an easy course to learn and where did you train?
Yes, it was! I believe it is a calling, when i received the revelation, i knew i had to get the best training within my reach so i went to 'House of Tara make up school'.

Waje

How important is makeup to the entertainment indusrty?
The entertainment industry is one that puts people on the spotlight. This bestows the responsibility to look your best and to achieve that you need make up to either enhance your look or hide certain imperfections.
(Laughs )
Ice Prince

Which is easier, working with celebrities or regular people?
I wouldn't want to categorize actually because personality differs and i am trained to manage all kinds.

Can you tell us some of the people you have worked with and any major set you have worked on?
I have been opportuned to work on a few celebrities like Yinka Davies, Ice Prince, Waje, Davina amongst others. I worked on the set of Ovation Red Carol theme song recently.
Dipp

Are there any major rules to applying makeup?
        Yes, there are.

What`s the difference between bridal makeup, night party makeup and office makeup?
The difference between bridal and office make up is elegance. While bridal and office make up are subtle, night party make up is flashy and edgy.

How lucrative is the business?
      The business is very lucrative.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5years i see myself owning a Makeup school, empowering not less than 100 young people annually and Annie La Belle being a house hold brand.

Any xmas wishes ?
Yeah, many...i want to keep them in my heart & prayers.

Which celebrity would you love to work with?
Well...I’d just mention Yinka Davies amongst many.

To the lovely Annie we wish you more colour to you brush....

Just before YOU say”I DO”

I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm, the sunlight hit my eyes

from an opening between my blinds I am grateful to God for another birthday.

I am 30 wao so soon! I feel like leaping for joy running downstairs to my mum`s delicious birthday surprise then I realize I have been doing that forever and I dread the questions I will be asked at the breakfast table.

My intro brings me to the dilemma of people who are pressured into marriage for whatever reason.
Marriage is ordained by God, in my opinion it is supposed to be a journey embarked on by two consenting adults trusting that regardless of what uncertainties life brings they will be consoled by each other till the candle burns out.

If you share my opinion do you think you should be pressured into marriage? Forever is a very long time to be emotionally and physically attached to somebody.

Forget the talk about courting for 5 years or more as being a yard stick to judge character. People change not because they want to but simply because it is the only constant thing in life.

Why are people pressured into marriage?

I have heard things like you are not getting younger, I want to settle down, I want to have my kids early, my folks want to see their grand kids, I am tired of struggling and paying bills, all my friends and siblings are married, I love weddings, maybe if I get married I will find favour.

I tell you a truth today, until you learn to take decisions based on your own inner yearnings and aspirations you will embark on a journey to HELL.

How so?

If you get married out of obligation or under some influence or pressure you are indirectly fulfilling someone else`s dream not yours.
I believe we should marry for love and companionship and all else will be added.
True love is fruitful, patient, kind and conquers all.

For the doubting Thomas
If you marry your soul mate, a part of you hangs in there when all else fails but when you marry for kids, status, family, pressure etc when those fail the marriage crashes.

Just before you say I DO
Take a minute to ask yourself if this is what you really want. If you feel scared or confused, it is a sign you should never ignore. Will you be willing to submit to the authority of this man? Can this woman raise your kids and build a home? Will I wake up someday wondering what it would have been like to marry my ex? If his/her family hates you, are you sure it will ever get better? What if I can`t have kids? Am I proud of my choice? Are we sexually, socially and morally compatible? will he/she be a hinderance to my dreams?
The questions are endless my dear but the questions are important. A broken relationship is better than a broken marriage.
The society
Trust me nobody cares about you. The only person that truly does is your maker but he has given you a free will so why give it up and listen to a society that sets standards that often fail. Truth be told if your marriage fails same soceity will ask you why you married him/her in the first place.

Follow your heart but let your head guide you as well.

Marriage is beautiful, it is sacred it is desirable so please choose carefully and do it for you because when push comes to shove only you will feel the pain or gain.

To all the about to and newly weds i wish you all the very best.

This is my own opinion, what`s yours?

MEN AND THEIR INSECURITIES

There is a believe that men can deal with almost anything ranging from providing for their significant other, carrying  extended family palava, work and project deadlines, bills, nation building and even the everyday pressures from society to be accomplished at a certain age but between you and I is it really so easy for men?

A little bird told me that a man isn`t supposed to cry that is another B.S in circulation.

I have seen so many monsters walking the malls, streets, and office corridors disguised as men. They lost their humanity because of that cliché.

Why is my husband, boyfriend, boss or colleague so hard hearted or void of empathy I have heard some women ask. My answer is simple someone told them a lie that it was a sign of weakness to show emotion and it was not masculine to be soft spoken. Guess who circulated this lie? WOMEN!

Yes we did decades ago.

If your man cried in front of you, chances that he will be tagged weak is very high. What do we really want? No man wants to lose his dignity; everyman wants to be a pillar of strength to his family. But Jesus wept so why can`t you? Simple answer…..You don`t trust her.

Yes I said so. He doesn`t trust YOU. It takes a lot for a man to break down in front of you, he has to know that you will still love him, respect him and understand him to be that vulnerable around you. I am not saying that men are allowed to be cry babies. But it took a lot for BEAUTY to bring out the gentle man in the BEAST.

A man has nobody but God when he turns 18. Simple example a bus breaks down on the 3rd mainland bridge. In 10 minutes 10 stranded ladies will be lifted but after another hour 3 guys are still walking the bridge.

Chances that a young man gets a job based on his credentials or good looks is slim in our present day society. If he doesn’t have an influential dad he is going to need divine intervention.

When he gets the job he is going to work twice as hard as his female counterparts to stay employed and get promoted.

When he gets promoted his responsibilities increase and so does the pressures to settle down.

When he finds a woman he has to deal with her background and protective father

How many masters does she have? Will she be submissive to his authority? Will he be able to meet up with her pedigree? Will his mum like his choice ? And when he passes this stage, He starts to worry about life at 40. What he hasn’t achieved visa vis what he envisaged. His worries are endless, what does my wife think of me? God forbid he has challenges and she starts to nag.

The road is a long tiring one it is filled with challenges and trials. I salute men for their courage BUT I have to ask you some questions too.

Women say you are insecure when you marry beautiful accomplished women and monitor them endlessly. True or False

Women claim you beat your wife when you are too weak to accept failure, or responsibility. I say you do this because you bought the lie they told you in a large quantity.

Women claim your over possessive nature is a sign of inferiority complex. What do you say?

Women claim that in the present day world they are doing as much as you, and have earned your respect.

Women claim more men are abandoning their kids and soon men will be regarded as sperm donors not FATHERS.

Women claim that respect should be earned and not demanded. I wonder

I want to know why you bought into the idea that women are weak? Women are physically weaker but emotionally stronger in my own opinion. Could this be why you are so insecure?

Only a woman can manipulate you be it your mum, wife or lover. She has the ability to determine your mood. Everything you try to achieve is all towards her comfort. True or false?

Women and their sexuality

Sex, we all agree is a vital part of a healthy relationship between COUPLES.I am however not ignoring the fact that there are many sexually active adults in soceity who are not married but have sexually active lives.

The hypocacy in our soceity has made millions of women to shy away from the reasons why infidelity and sexual immorality is now so rampant. Many women don`t think they indirectly encourage their partners to cheat when they make excuses at sexual attempts.

Many phycologists will list a few reasons like stress, bad sexual orientation, lack of proper foreplay, obesity, you know the rest but coming from a woman i know its often more than this.

Communication plays a big role in how your partner will relate to you sexually. If your body language isn`t right chances is that you will get less than you bargained for. sometimes the lack of experience, bad breath, nasty underwear or the reluctance to try new things is a successful turn off.

The import of sex toys and stimulants is on the rise and i have heard some people whisper at parties of how low and degrading they think it is when in reality they are either too shy to ask for where to purchase the item or just too much of  hypocrates to admit they lack a good sex life.

I see nothing wrong if 2 consenting adults spice up their sex life. If
it helps them stay faithfull to each other then so be it. Some say that the continous use can turn people into pervets and freaks with unsatisfiable lusts and desires. While some other simply say "go for it"

However if a lady is spotted with a dildo or vibrator in her bag chances that she is tagged a freak or even abused is over the average.

Are we too religious or too hypocritical or are we brought up to believe we have no right or reason to enjoy sex. A little bird told me that female mutilation came into existence to curb promiscuity in women.

I have heard a whole load of B.S in my days. i am a christian woman but not an hypocrate, i believe in upholding moral standards but i am not perfect, i don`t use sexual stimulants or toys but i have no
issues with those that do.

what`s your opinion? please don`t tell me you are a virgin cause chan
ces that you masturbate is very high.

MY MOOD TODAY

I feel pretty good today want to sit on the couch all day compiling a to do list of what I will achieve in 2012.
I reviewed the year 2011 and I must say it was eventful all over the world. I have never counted so many loses as in one lifetime as I did this year.
Revolutions all over Africa, deaths of celebrities, natural disasters, killings of the world`s most wanted terrorists and an increase in haters in my life, laugh out loud but seriously it`s been a tough emotional year. I gained some lifelong friends and discarded some negative unproductive ones.
I think I want to give you guys a sneak peek into my weekly activities. My highs, my lows, my money making secrets, new grounds broken et all and just maybe a little about ME.
I recently graduated from the New York Film Academy and I have gotten several offers to partner on big projects I am sure I will have some Nollywood secrets for you real soon.
Sandy`s blog is just for fun, it`s about all the fun stuff I see, observe and feel and all the mischief I get into.
How can I forget posters magazine. My friend Bosun just released the first edition of his magazine “POSTER” it`s just as the name implies all pictures on spectacular gloss sheets. Stick around for my interview with Tubosun the publisher.
I will equally be talking “COMPLETE FASHION” with you guys as I have recently been invited to join the vibrant team at Signature group.
OVATION magazine will always be my family as my time with them has been rewarding, profiting and challenging but I guess the only way to know if you have grown is to leave home. As much as I won`t be sitting at my desk on Monday mornings I know I will always have a spot in the office.
Bashorun Dele Momodu "My Boss"
I just finished writing my first 90 minutes feature film titled “THE DIARY OF MARYANNE” which will feature the delectable Steph Okereke and I am presently writing my second movie which promises to be revealing, suspense filled and dramatic.

Daniel Tobi Sanni

It has almost been two months since the inauguration of the elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a lot of us have moved on from the pre election saga and post election controversies.

Sandy`s blog has not quite put a lid on the electoral process and it`s challenges.

We caught up with a gentleman who played a very active role in the journey of one of the presidential candidates race to Aso rock.

Win or lose I say victory is not only achieved with winning the price but the fact that we are bold enough despite great criticism to pursue that which others only hope for.

I am curious to know who is eligible, how do i enter the race, why should i enter the race, how do i pick my team, you know? stick around it`s going to be entertaining.

AK ONE

Young, rugged and daring.

For some folks the question will be are we discussing guns now? The answer is YES if you have a brilliant sense of humour. Ak one is an industry genius fast rising and on a mission. Aside Shooting, this young man engages in developing projects.
1.  What`s your real name?
My name is Bakare Akinola Sherrif
2.  What do you do for a living?
I do a lot of stuff majorly I am a film maker, producer, director, I write concepts and ideas. In a nut shell I am a CEO
3.  Why AK ONE?
AK ONE is actually from my name Akinola and the ONE stands for one heart, one dream, one God. Initially it wasn’t intended until someone started calling me that and it stuck so I added my own dimension to it. A lot of people call it AK 47 but I am not a gun.
4.  Can you list some videos you have shot?
Let me start from Kaha featuring Tuface (heart robber), 2short featuring Terry G(if you don`t mind), Muma Gee (African juice), Hakym the dream(Dey there) Terry G`s free madness and Throwway, ovation green carol, Lamboghinny (Say no to crime), Jafextra (pump it up) , African China ( if you love somebody), Kaffy (Omo gidi) to mention a few.
Akin at work

5.  How challenging is it to shoot a music video?
I would say the most challenging part is writing the concept for the video.
Shooting a video is divided into three parts. Pre-production,  production and post production. It all comes down to your passion at the end of it all because if you have the passion you won`t see it as work.
6.  Have you ever won an award for your work?
I have been nominated for channel o awards, Nigerian video awards and for the most promising director 2009 NMVA then in 2010 for best cinematography to mention a few. All this tells you that you are still in line and with hard work the awards will come . I am not in a rush.
7.  How did you train to become a video director?
I would first say you must first love the art. You must have the guts. I started with nothing before going into a film school. Just go out there read tutorials and shoot something. I started with shooting my friends video before going to a film school. If you have the money go to a film school otherwise have the guts to start from somewhere. Go out there and shoot! Shoot! Shoot!
8.  Is it a lucrative business?
(Laughs) it is still a lucrative business. You have to pay your dues first. You can`t wake up and make all the money. If you saw me some years ago you won`t believe it but with time it pays the bills. Now I can fuel my car pay my bills and take care of myself as a young man.
9.  What other business interests do you have?
Apart from music videos, it would be Film making. I studied film making in the UK at the central film school and since then I have fallen in love with film making and my first short film was called the “kidnapper”. I have something else I don’t want to talk about because it`s unimaginable and I am saying it first on sandy`s blog so just note it now. When I say unimaginable you need to watch out because it will set the standard for a lot of things in the future.
1           Do you think our videos are of international standard?
Yes. It all depends on what you call international standard because we are of different cultures and backgrounds. In terms of quality we are the same. We can put an American and Nigerian music video side by side and thanks to professionals like us we are raising the bar. You can put on your TV today and see a lot of our videos on Trace, Mtv Base and Channel O. it is then not right to ask if we are of international standard because we portray our cultural differences in a way unique to us with the aid of professionals.
1            How do you come about the concept for a music video?
Yeah. The first thing is to listen to the song, study the artist. You have to study the brand and make it work hand in hand with the brand. For instance a Terry G brand is better depicted with some craziness to suit the style of the artist and to satisfy his fans while a D`banj is better sold as a sexy lady`s man. So we have to study the brand, listen to the song then create a concept around it.
1           Anything you want to share?
(Smiles) My unimaginable stuff I like to call it. I just want to tell people to watch out for my series and other productions. It will be mind blowing, I promise to take the industry by surprise.
Well people you heard it all. Go out there and shoot! Not at people and not with guns. Go out there and make things happen. Big things start litte and from somewhere. Take a cue from Ak ONE and be an unimaginable sensation.
