Lamboginny Say No To crime initiative is the brainchild of a young innovative and talented Nigerian musician, Yinka Lawanson (Lamboginny), A young man who has given his heart to helping young people find alternatives to crime in Nigeria.
I had the privilege of celebrating my birthday this year at the “Say No To Crime” prison concert held at the Kirikiri Female maximum prison in Apapa. It was an amazing experience for me as I had an opportunity to thank God for the gift of freedom.
Sometimes we think we have problems and we forget the little things we have that are luxuries to others. I am eternally grateful to Lambo for that experience.
Good news is, i recently caught up with Lambo and he was willing to grant our blog an interview.
What`s Lambo`s real name?
LAWANSON YINKA alias LAMBOGINNY.
When and how did you enter the music industry?
I started music way back in year 2000 and got into the industry in 2002 when I went for the first edition of Star quest which also had artists like KC Presh, Nigga raw, Klint the druk e.t.c.

How and why did you start Say No To Crime?Taking into consideration the alarming rate of increase in criminal activities and indulgences in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large, I rose to call for a battle against this debilitating virus menacing our socio-economic, political, educational, socio-cultural and national development. I started of with live concerts in prison...The 'Say No To Crime' initiative has seriously grown since its inception in 2009, the first campaign concert was held at the medium security prison kirikiri Apapa Lagos, on the 15th of october 2009,featuring top celebrities in Nigeria entertainment industry including sammie Okposo, Dj jimmy Jatt, Fela Durotoye, Rooftop Mcs, Mike Aremu, Alhaja Bukky Ajayi, Dekunle Fuji,Jahfexra, Daddy fresh among many others,the event ended as a real success, gaining absolute approval of the Nigeria Prison Service and later transcend beyond mere approval into an official endorsement on the 24th september 2010, by three comptroller Generals in Nigeria, namely:Nigeria Prison Service, CG Olushola Ogundipe(OFR,mni)
Nigeria security and civil Defense Corps, CG Dr Ade Abolurin(OFR)
Nigeria Immigration Service, CG (Mrs) Rose C.Uzoma(OON,mni). I also have an all star song called "I NO GO LOOSE MY HEAD" which ft. 16 top Nigerian artist.

On the 7th of January 2011 I also did a concert in the female prison, which ft. Oyenka Owenu, Stella Damasus, Shan George, Hon. Abike dabiri, kaffy,Ay.com, Sexy steel, Zeal and the Unite 5,Jedi, Jafextra, Chidinma of MTN Project Fame , Sandra Ajayi and many others.
On the 14th of February 2011, i had another concert in ikoyi prison "THE VIP CONCERT"(valentine in prison) which ft. Mid Night crew, Dekunle Fuji, jedi, Derenle Edun, Stella Damasus, Shan George, Zeal, and special guest as Bashorun Dele Momodu a presidential aspirant and so many orders.

How has it been thus far?Well, i must say a big thank you to God for standing by me, and my fellow artists as well. Though, i must tell you that it has not been easy doing all this without sponsorship. But I'll keep doing it until God will sends one my way.
What was growing up like for you?Growing up was fun until I lost my mum in 1998. My mum was my eyes I loved her so much. I left home that same year and started leaving with my friends and their families. I moved from one place to another but it made me strong that i was ready to face life. My dad really tried for me until I lost him as well in 2009.I loved my parents so much.
How old is Lambo and where was he born?I was born 21st Dec 1984 in a church somewhere in Ajegunle Lagos State.
How did you become a prison officer?I became a prison officer based on the good works I am doing for inmates in Nigeria. I went for a meeting in Abuja and after which I was given the opportunity to be more empowered to fight crime not just as an artist but also an officer.
Any plans for the future?I have great plans for the future both for my music career and my project. My future projection is that someday we'll have a world crime free day.
Wow! Have you done any collaboration?I have done collaborations with artists like, Osufia, Ojb, Mr. solek, Sammie Okposo, the all star song, Yemi Sax, kaffy, e.t.c
Any juicy gist that you would like to share for the first time ever on our blog?I am working on the first ever music reality show for inmates. It has never happened in Africa. It`s a secret.
Finally, who is your female sex icon?
It`s encouraging to find young people willing to stand up to fight crime in Today`s Nigeria. What is sad is that the Government isn`t supporting projects or initiatives like this. It`s not enough to say well done we are behind you .Let`s give our brother the financial support he needs as well.
